Jackson State Women’s Tennis Tops Florida A&M, Remains Perfect in SWAC

Montgomery, Alabama — Jackson State’s women’s tennis team extended its winning streak in Southwestern Athletic Conference play to five matches with a 4-2 victory over Florida A&M on Saturday.

The Tigers opened the match with wins in doubles play. Victoria Linkovski and Helen Hernandez teamed up for a 6-1 win over Larrisa Silva and Genesis Whitlock. Florida A&M responded with a 6-2 win at third doubles and took the doubles point with a 6-4 victory at second doubles, but Jackson State gained momentum with singles wins from Paula Corbalan and Mariia Iordanova.

Corbalan defeated Veronica Rodriguez 6-3, 7-5, while Iordanova cruised to a 6-5, 6-4 win at second singles. The Tigers sealed the match with victories from Isabella Benavides, who won 6-4, 6-3, and Hernandez, who posted a 6-0, 7-5 win at her respective courts.
