Jackson State women’s tennis team extends winning streak with victory over Dillard
JACKSON, Miss. — The Jackson State women’s tennis team beat Dillard 4-2 Sunday, extending its winning streak to two matches, according to school officials.
Alvarez and Tovar opened the match with a 6-2 victory at third doubles. Linkovski and Hernandez sealed the doubles point with a 6-3 win at court one, giving the Tigers an early lead.
In singles play, Alvarez earned the first point after her opponent retired due to injury. Hernandez followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win at fourth singles. Junior Paula Corbalan rallied after dropping the first set 2-6, then won back-to-back sets 6-2, 6-4 at first singles to clinch the match for Jackson State.
The Tigers will travel to Montgomery on March 27-28 to face conference opponents Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M. Jackson State aims to continue its winning streak in upcoming matches.
