Jackson State Women’s Bowling Finishes 12-2 at SWAC East Roundup

The Jackson State women’s bowling team finished the Southwestern Athletic Conference East Roundup with a 12-2 record, splitting their final four matches Sunday morning in Huntsville, Alabama, according to team sources.

The Tigers lost their first traditional match of the day to Texas Southern, 838-795, but rebounded with a 917-809 victory over Prairie View A&M. They then dropped a close one to Southern, 857-853, before defeating Alabama A&M, 869-839, to close out the weekend.

Three Jackson State bowlers finished in the top 10 in individual standings. Freshman Tiara Henderson led the team at sixth place with an average of 183.86 and 2,543 pins. Faith Washington and MacKenzie Conway took eighth and 10th, respectively. Washington averaged 184.96 with 5,179 pins, while Conway’s stats were not specified in the source.

With the weekend’s results, Jackson State’s overall conference record now stands at 24-2. Paige Hubert maintained her top ranking with a 192.36 average and 5,386 total pins in 28 games. Henderson is ranked third nationally among conference bowlers, with 4,878 pins and a 187.25 average.

The Tigers are scheduled to return to the lanes for the Southern Queens tournament in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, beginning Feb. 13.
