Jackson State to Open Eight-Game Road Trip Against New Orleans
Jackson State will start an eight-game road series Tuesday night with a game against New Orleans at Maestri Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
The teams have met 34 times in history, with New Orleans holding a 24-9-1 series lead. Jackson State won the last matchup, 15-14, on April 30, according to school records.
Troy Wilson Jr., a senior outfielder, leads Jackson State offensively with a .481 batting average, a 1.144 OPS, and a .588 slugging percentage. He has 13 hits in 27 at-bats, scored nine runs, and driven in 10 RBIs. Ledy Alvarez, a senior infielder, is batting .361 with a .964 OPS and has stolen six bases in eight attempts.
Pierre Cabral, a senior catcher, is hitting .357 with 15 hits, including four doubles, and has 10 RBIs. Tyree Reed, a redshirt junior outfielder, sports a .356 batting average, scored 11 runs, and has 10 RBIs. Junior infielder Robert Tate Jr. is hitting .310 with 11 runs scored and eight RBIs.
On the mound, three pitchers have two wins each this season. Senior left-hander Jayden Lopez is 2-0 with a 5.91 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 10.2 innings. Derek Arrocha (2-1, 5.79 ERA, 19 strikeouts) and Kade Walker (2-1, 6.75 ERA, 13 strikeouts) are also rotation staples. Edwards has recorded two saves, with Darius Dampier earning one.
