Jackson State Softball Shut Out by Nicholls in Midweek Game

Jackson State’s softball team was shut out by Nicholls State on Wednesday, losing 10-0 at home. The Tigers were held scoreless and did not have a runner reach past second base during the game, according to team officials.

Jayden Rutledge started for Jackson State and took the loss, dropping her record to 0-1. The team went 0-for-1 with runners in scoring position, with their last scoring threat coming in the fifth inning when Jhordan Dyer advanced to second with two outs.

Jackson State pitchers faced 32 Nicholls hitters, allowing seven ground balls, eight fly balls, and striking out two. Jace Jackson led the Tigers offensively, going 0-for-1 at the plate, while Reagan Heflin led the Colonels with a 1-for-3 performance that included a home run and three RBIs.

Sierra Ouellette pitched six shutout innings for Nicholls, contributing to the Colonels’ victory. Jackson State will next face Alabama A&M on the road Friday at 2 p.m., opening a weekend series.
