Jackson State Defeats Mississippi Valley State 8-0 in Softball Series Opener
Jackson State defeated Mississippi Valley State 8-0 in five innings during the series opener Saturday at JSU Softball Field in Jackson, Mississippi. The Lady Tigers improved to 15-14 overall and 7-2 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, while the Delta Devils fell to 1-22 and remain winless in conference at 0-10, according to records.
Mississippi Valley State’s offense was limited to a single hit, delivered by Taniya Partee in the first inning. Pitcher Madison Bruce struck out three batters and issued only one walk in her effort against the Tigers.
The game was highlighted by a strong start from Jackson State, which scored two runs in the first inning. Brooklyn Morris and Beija Allen contributed RBI singles, while the Tigers added four more runs over the next three innings. The Delta Devils attempted to rally but were unable to score after their first inning.
