Jackson State Athletes Finish Strong at Louisiana Classic
LAFAYETTE, La. — Jackson State’s track and field team saw multiple top finishes at the Louisiana Classic on Saturday. Kaiden Berry placed second in men’s discus with a throw of 52.26 meters, setting a new personal best. He also finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 16.37 meters.
Terrell Dixon earned second place in the long jump, reaching 7.21 meters, a season best for the senior from Brandon, Mississippi. Sedgwrick Pitts Jr. continued his strong season, finishing third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.87 seconds. He also competed in the 100-meter dash, clocking 10.37 seconds to place sixth overall.
On the women’s side, Ashanti Patton was the lone representative and secured third in the triple jump with a leap of 11.68 meters. Several other Tigers recorded personal or season bests across various events, including Madyson McGill and Korbin Lewis in pole vault, Malayna Mallory in hammer and discus throws, Elijah Blige in discus, and others in middle-distance and hurdles events.
The Tigers are set to compete next at the Alumni Bulldog Relays hosted by Mississippi State in Starkville, beginning Thursday, March 26.
