Hinds Baseball Sweeps Northeast with Offensive Outburst and Walk-Off Win
RAYMOND, Miss. — The Hinds Community College baseball team swept Northeast Mississippi Community College in a doubleheader on April 3, winning game one with a historic offensive inning and game two with a walk-off in extra innings, according to school officials.
In the first game, Hinds scored 19 runs in the bottom of the third inning, one of the most explosive offensive performances of the season. Every player in the lineup scored twice during the inning, turning an early deficit into a commanding 24-5 victory. The Eagles finished the game with 20 hits and kept pressure on Northeast throughout.
RJ Brown led the offensive effort, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and seven RBIs. Brody Breithaupt went 2-for-3 with four runs scored and three RBIs, while Kylan Landers was 3-for-5 with three runs and five RBIs. Lane Almond added two hits and scored twice, and Sam Sheffield contributed two hits and three runs scored. Peyton Beck earned the win on the mound, pitching four innings and striking out six while allowing three earned runs. Relief pitchers Jack Grove, Calvin Robinson, and Jack Wright closed out the game.
The second game featured a late rally by Hinds, which ultimately ended with a walk-off win in the eighth inning. The Eagles scored four runs in the first inning and added another in the second. Northeast responded with five runs in the seventh to take an 8-6 lead. Hinds tied the game in the bottom of the inning, pushing it into extra innings.
In the eighth, with runners on base, AJ Seiter delivered a two-RBI single to left-center field, sealing the 9-8 victory for the Eagles. Breithaupt continued his strong performance, going 4-for-4 with three runs scored. Ethan Keen and Cade Fairley each scored two runs, and Tanner Alhinai added an RBI. Cooper Loftin recorded the final out in relief for the win on the mound.
