Hinds Baseball Sweeps Coahoma in Doubleheader
The Hinds Community College baseball team swept Coahoma Community College in a doubleheader on March 15. The Eagles won game one 9-5 and secured a 12-1 victory in game two.
In the first game, Hinds showcased offensive firepower, collecting 12 hits. Cade Fairley went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Brody Breithaupt drove in three runs and finished 2-for-5 at the plate. Kylan Landers and RJ Brown each had two hits and two RBIs. Ethan Keen contributed a triple and a home run, while Ryder Molea and Lane Almond added RBIs. The Eagles also stole multiple bases, with Keen, Fairley, Landers, Brown, and Rolen Fanning each swiping a bag.
On the mound, Tyler West earned the win by tossing eight innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out seven. Charles Chisolm closed the game in the ninth inning to secure the victory.
The momentum carried into the second game, where Hinds scored early and often, winning 12-1 in seven innings. The Eagles had 16 hits, with Ethan Keen hitting a two-run home run and going 2-for-4. Ryder Molea went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Lane Almond added two hits and two RBIs, while Cade Fairley and Kylan Landers also contributed offensively. Ben Kennedy and RJ Brown each drove in runs, and AJ Seiter added an RBI as well.
Peyton Beck pitched a complete game for Hinds, allowing one run on five hits. He struck out 10 batters and walked three to earn the win.
