Columbus, Miss. — Valerie Greer has been appointed interim head coach of the women’s soccer team at Mississippi University for Women for the 2026 season, the school announced Tuesday.
Greer previously served as the team’s assistant coach in 2025. MUW Athletic Director Buddy Foster expressed confidence in her leadership, citing her established relationships and familiarity with the program.
“We are thankful for Coach Greer’s willingness to step into this role to ensure the continuity of the team in terms of both returning players and recruits,” Foster said. “Filling a vacancy so late in the year made it nearly impossible to conduct a proper coaching search, given the season is just around the corner. But I am confident that Coach Greer’s established relationships and familiarity will benefit the program.”
The university plans to conduct a national search to fill the head coach position after the upcoming season.
