Delta State Women’s Tennis Loses to West Florida 6-1

Pensacola, Fla. — The Delta State University women’s tennis team lost to West Florida 6-1 Tuesday afternoon. The Argonauts secured the doubles point with victories on courts one and two. On court three, Yasmina Mayer and Angie Moreno were trailing 5-3 when the doubles point was clinched.

Amelia Ciesielczyk provided DSU’s lone point in singles play with a straight-sets victory at No. 1, winning 6-2, 7-6, 7-4. West Florida swept the remaining singles matches in straight sets. Mayer was defeated 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3; Kuehn lost 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5; Ly was beaten 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2; Iakovlieva fell 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4; and Moreno finished with a 6-2, 6-1 loss at No. 6.

Delta State returns to action next week with an away Gulf South Conference matchup against Mississippi College on March 17 at 2 p.m. Central Time.
