Delta State Swim and Dive Finishes at 2026 NCAA Division II Championships
EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Delta State University swim and dive team wrapped up the 2025-26 season Saturday at the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, earning multiple top finishes in their final meet of the year.
On the men’s side, senior Mateus Franco finished eighth in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:16.41. His performance earned 11 points for the Statesmen and marked an All-America finish, with Franco holding steady splits and surging late in the race against the nation’s best distance swimmers.
The Lady Statesmen posted several notable results during Saturday’s finals. Olivia Murphy finished 13th in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 50.55 seconds in the consolation final and earning four points. Kaley Davis added a top-10 finish in the 200-yard backstroke, placing 10th with a time of 2:00.98 and collecting 6.5 points.
Delta State concluded the meet with a strong showing in the women’s 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Murphy, Ave Owens, Aspen Shipp, and Zinna Nimander finished 10th with a time of 3:22.49, earning 14 points. Overall, the Lady Statesmen finished 10th in the team standings with 185.5 points, closing a successful championship week against top NCAA Division II programs.
The meet marked the end of the 2025-26 season for Delta State as the program shifts focus to preparations for the 2026-27 campaign.
