Delta State Men’s Tennis Tops UT Permian Basin 4-0 in Richardson
RICHARDSON, Texas — The Delta State University men’s tennis team blanked UT Permian Basin 4-0 Saturday at the UTD Tennis Complex. The victory marked the Statesmen’s third win of the season.
Delta State seized control early in doubles, winning on courts two and three. Juan Diego Alzate and Alejandro Bravo teamed to defeat their opponents 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. Valentin Greco and Simon Ojeda also claimed a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles, earning the first point for the team.
In singles play, Delta State maintained its momentum with three straight-set wins. Greco defeated Nehal Naidoo 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Marti Cerda Castillo won 6-2, 6-2 on court four. Bravo sealed the victory at No. 5 singles, beating Andrew Hunsley 6-1, 6-1.
Several matches remained unfinished after the team clinched the win. The Statesmen will next face Spring Hill College’s Badgers in Clinton on Wednesday, February 18.
