Delta State Athletics Preview: Conference Tournament and Weekend Series
Delta State University’s basketball teams open the Gulf South Conference Tournament with the Lady Statesmen hosting No. 6 seed Valdosta State in the quarterfinals. The men’s team will face No. 1 seed West Alabama on the road, according to the school’s athletics website.
In addition to basketball, tennis remains on the road this week. The softball and baseball teams will host Christian Brothers for weekend conference series at their respective home venues. On Tuesday, March 3, the baseball team hosts Henderson State at 5 p.m. in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The softball team will play a doubleheader against Henderson State at 2 p.m. at University Field on Wednesday, March 4.
Weekend action includes tennis matches against Lynn University in Mississippi, and both baseball and softball games against Christian Brothers at Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field and University Field, respectively. The softball and baseball teams will face Christian Brothers in doubleheaders on Saturday, March 7, with games at 1 p.m. at their home venues. Softball will also play a single game against Christian Brothers on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Additionally, tennis competes against Valdosta State in Pensacola, Florida, on Sunday at 2 p.m., with live results available.
