Cotie McMahon scores 39 points as Ole Miss women’s basketball beats Tennessee

Cotie McMahon scored a career-high 39 points, leading No. 17/17 Ole Miss women’s basketball to a 94-81 victory over No. 21/21 Tennessee on Tuesday night at the SJB Pavilion.

The 39-point effort is the third-highest single-game total in Ole Miss history, tied with Eugenia Conner and Peggie Gillom, and trails only Bianca Thomas and Gillom’s 45. It also set a new record at the Pavilion, previously held by Crystal Allen with 34 points in 2019.

McMahon’s standout performance included her reaching 2,000 career points, making her the fifth Rebel to achieve that milestone. She scored her 2,000th point less than three minutes into the game on a jumper from the elbow. The senior also contributed a double-double with 10 rebounds and led the team with five assists. Her 16 games with at least 20 points this season tie her for fifth most in program history.

Ole Miss improved to 21-6 overall and 8-4 in SEC play with the win. The Rebels also surpassed their previous high against Tennessee with 94 points, the most ever scored in a game against the Lady Vols. Latasha Lattimore added 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Christeen Iwuala scored 16 points. Tianna Thompson contributed 12 points off the bench.

The Rebels now prepare to host No. 6/7 LSU on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. CT, with the game set to broadcast on ESPN. Single-game tickets for the season are available at OleMissTix.com.
