Coastal Carolina Defeats Southern Miss Behind 14 Three-Pointers
Coastal Carolina beat Southern Miss 85-67 Saturday at the HTC Center in Conway, South Carolina. The Chanticleers made 14 three-pointers, their most this season, and improved their all-time series record to 2-2, with the game tied 1-1 in Conway.
Coastal Carolina started strong, hitting nine of their first nine shots, including five three-pointers, and built a 23-9 lead. Southern Miss responded with a 12-point run, led by Tylik Weeks, who finished with 22 points. However, the Chanticleers maintained their advantage, leading 39-25 at halftime.
In the second half, Coastal Carolina extended its lead, shooting 60.9 percent from the floor. Rasheed Jones hit his seventh three-pointer of the night to push the lead to 17, and the Chanticleers’ largest margin was 21 points late in the game. Weeks and Izzy Hart each scored season highs, with Hart tallying 18 points. Djahi Binet added 16 points for Southern Miss.
Southern Miss committed a season-low seven turnovers and recorded 10 steals, marking their seventh game with double-digit steals this season. Despite the loss, Weeks reached double figures for the 20th time this season, and Hart scored in double figures for the seventh time.
Southern Miss returns home Thursday to host Appalachian State at 7 p.m., with the game broadcast on ESPN+ and the Southern Miss Radio Network.
