Blue Mountain’s Nordstrom Named SSAC Men’s Golfer of the Week After Record-Setting Performance

Montgomery, Ala. — Blue Mountain Christian University sophomore Alex Nordstrom has been named the SSAC Men’s Golfer of the Week following a record-setting performance at the Carey Collegiate. Nordstrom finished third individually in a highly competitive field.

During the final round, Nordstrom fired a program-record 65, six strokes under par on the par-71 course. The round is the lowest score ever recorded by a Blue Mountain Christian men’s golfer. His overall score of 206 (70-71-65) gave him a seven-under-par finish for the tournament.

Competing against multiple nationally ranked teams, Nordstrom’s performance demonstrated his ability to compete among some of the NAIA’s top golfers. His play helped the Toppers continue to showcase their competitiveness against elite programs.

Head Coach Kevin Barefield praised Nordstrom’s focus and preparation after his historic week. “Alex has been putting himself in position for a round like this all season,” Barefield said. “To see him break the program record with a 65 in a field like this shows the kind of player he is becoming. I’m really proud of his focus and the way he competed from start to finish.”

Nordstrom’s conference honor adds to a strong spring season for the Toppers as they continue to navigate a challenging schedule.
