Blue Mountain Christian Upsets No. 18 William Carey in SSAC Battle

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian delivered a complete performance Saturday afternoon, earning a 69-64 victory over No. 18 William Carey in an SSAC game.

The game was tightly contested early, but the Toppers took control with strong defense, timely scoring, and disciplined execution in the second half. They used defensive stops and rebounding to create offensive opportunities, finishing with a 46-28 rebounding advantage.

Blue Mountain Christian shot 47.2% from the field and limited William Carey to one-and-done possessions. The Toppers maintained composure despite momentum swings, responding to runs with clutch baskets. They sealed the game in the fourth quarter with free throws and key defensive stops, securing the five-point victory on the road.

Leading the way was Maddie Kirk, who scored 20 points, added six rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Kathryn Echols contributed 14 points and six rebounds, while McKenzie Williams posted 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Lena Taylor added 10 points and six rebounds, and Isabella Carlson scored five points with five assists.

With the win, Blue Mountain Christian advances to the SSAC Basketball Championship Tournament as the sixth seed.
