Blue Mountain Christian University Baseball Sweeps Rust College Doubleheader

The Blue Mountain Christian University baseball team swept a doubleheader against Rust College on Wednesday, winning 30-4 and 9-4. The Toppers showcased explosive offense in the first game, scoring three runs in the first inning, five in the second, and 15 in the fourth to blow open the game.

Blue Mountain finished with 19 hits in game one. Cody Presley led the offense with a 3-for-6 performance, seven RBIs, and two home runs. Jacob Bryant went 3-for-5 with five RBIs, while Jake Meilstrup scored five runs and had three hits. Ross Polizzi added two hits and four RBIs, and Jarrett Morris contributed two hits and three RBIs.

On the mound, JD Klug earned the win, allowing one run over four innings with three strikeouts. Relief pitchers Jack Hearn, Jesse Mellinger, and Jabari Farr closed out the game.

The momentum carried into game two, where Blue Mountain took an early lead. A four-run third inning helped extend the gap. Rust tried to rally with three runs in the fifth, but the Toppers answered with three insurance runs in the seventh to secure the 9-4 victory and complete the sweep.

Ross Polizzi led the offense in game two, going 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Hugh Parsons finished 3-for-4 with an RBI. Cody Presley added two hits, and Jacob Bryant drove in two runs. The Toppers’ pitching staff also contributed, with Judson Griffin earning the win in relief and Jarrett Morris earning the save.

Blue Mountain will look to carry the momentum from the midweek sweep into upcoming conference games, aiming to continue their strong performance.
