Blue Mountain Christian Sweeps Stillman in Season Opener Doubleheader

Tuscaloosa, Alabama — Blue Mountain Christian kicked off the 2026 softball season with a doubleheader sweep of Stillman College on Friday. The Toppers won the first game 8-1 and took the second 6-1, maintaining momentum throughout both contests.

In the opener, Blue Mountain Christian scored early and kept control of the game from start to finish. The team finished with 11 hits, led by Maryn Macri, who went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Aspen Teague added two hits, including a double, and Mikaylah Fuqua reached base multiple times, drove in a run, and scored twice. Vaye Savage contributed a key RBI to extend the lead.

Madison Montgomery pitched a complete game for the Toppers, allowing just one run on seven hits over seven innings. She struck out four and was effective in limiting Stillman’s scoring chances.

Blue Mountain Christian carried its momentum into the nightcap, winning 6-1. Macri led offensively again with two triples and three RBIs. Anna Harrison went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Karen Wisher and Kelsey Camp contributed RBIs with a double and a single, respectively. Teague added two more hits to support the offensive effort.

Neely Cooper pitched a complete game for the Toppers, surrendering only five hits and one run while striking out five. She kept Stillman’s lineup in check and preserved the lead throughout the game.

With the wins, Blue Mountain Christian opened the season on a positive note. The team will face Stillman again in another doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, aiming to build on its early success.
