Belhaven’s Karley Rouse Named CCS Pitcher of the Week

Atlanta — Belhaven University junior pitcher Karley Rouse was named the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday. It marks her first career weekly honor.

Rouse led the Blazers to a doubleheader sweep over No. 8 Huntingdon, a rematch of last season’s CCS Tournament championship game. She earned wins in both games, pitching seven innings while allowing one run on three hits. She struck out three and held opponents to a .130 batting average, finishing with a 1.00 earned run average for the week.

Over her last six starts, Rouse is 5-0 with a 0.78 ERA. She has been effective in traffic, working out of multiple jams with runners in scoring position. Her poise has been notable in clutch moments.

On the season, Rouse is 7-3 with a 2.40 ERA in 73 innings. She has been a consistent presence in Belhaven’s pitching rotation. The team has a combined 2.58 ERA and has limited opponents to a .263 batting average.

The Blazers will face Millsaps College on Wednesday in the second game of the Riverside Rivalry. Fans can follow Belhaven athletics on Twitter at @BelhavenBlazers and on Facebook.
