Belhaven Women’s Basketball Falls in OT at Huntingdon
Montgomery, Ala. — Belhaven University’s women’s basketball team suffered a 79-78 overtime loss to Huntingdon on Monday afternoon at Roland Arena. The Blazers moved to 13-4 overall and 6-3 in the Collegiate Conference of the South, according to school officials.
The game featured multiple momentum shifts, extended scoring runs by both teams, and late-game drama. Belhaven led at halftime but was overtaken in the third quarter. Both teams exchanged leads in the fourth quarter, sending the game into overtime tied at 68.
In overtime, Belhaven took an early lead with a basket from Kamren Edwards and a three-pointer. Huntingdon responded with clutch free throws from Makayla Ford and a key basket in the paint. The game was decided in the final second when Abby Byrd made a free throw for Huntingdon, sealing the victory. Belhaven’s final shot fell short as time expired.
Belhaven’s Williams scored a team-high 19 points, while Katelyn Coleman and Jasi Jenkins each added 15. Edwards scored 10 points, and Hudson grabbed 12 rebounds and played strong defense, according to the school.
