Belhaven Tennis Teams Fall to Rhodes in Non-Conference Match
The Belhaven men’s and women’s tennis teams both lost non-conference matches Saturday against Rhodes College at Parham Bridges in Jackson.
On the men’s side, Jesus Diaz and Josiah Leggett teamed up for the top doubles spot but lost 6-2. Harshith Anugonda and Briley Oakes fell 6-3 in the No. 2 doubles match. Anugonda, competing as the top singles player for Belhaven, pushed his Rhodes opponent to a tiebreak before being defeated. Jack Madden also took his opponent to a tiebreak after winning the first set 6-3 but ultimately lost 10-6.
In women’s play, Evey Moore and Millie Gallarno teamed up in the top doubles spot and earned one game against Rhodes but did not secure a point for the Blazers. The team is scheduled to face Holmes Community College on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Parham Bridges, rescheduled from earlier this month.
