Belhaven Men’s Basketball Defeats Piedmont 110-76
Demorest, Georgia — Belhaven University’s men’s basketball team scored one of its most complete offensive games of the season Saturday, defeating Piedmont 110-76 inside Cave Arena.
The Blazers shot 55.3% from the field, assisted on 25 baskets, and controlled the game from the opening minutes. Six players scored in double figures, and Belhaven dominated the paint, finishing with 58 points inside and 23 second-chance points.
The game started tightly, with Fisher Darden opening the scoring for Belhaven before Charleston Wallace answered for Piedmont. Belhaven then built a lead with an 18-5 run midway through the first half. Neal Terry scored twice in the paint, CJ Minton converted a fast-break layup, and Braylon Dame hit a three-pointer to extend the lead to 40-22.
The Blazers closed the first half strong, with DJ Jones hitting a three, Stewart finishing on the break after a steal, and Dyllion Redmond draining a buzzer-beating three to send Belhaven into halftime leading 63-37.
In the second half, Piedmont attempted to rally, but Belhaven responded quickly. Charleston Wallace scored at the rim, and Minton and Jones hit back-to-back threes to push the lead past 30 points. A decisive 16-2 run around the 13-minute mark effectively sealed the game for the Blazers.
Belhaven continued to extend its lead with fast-break layups and three-pointers, with Stewart and Robinson contributing key buckets. The team maintained control until the final buzzer, winning 110-76. The Blazers will return home Tuesday to face Huntingdon, with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m.
