Belhaven Alumnus Kyla Shaw Excels as Tax Accountant and CPA Candidate

Kyla Shaw, a graduate of Belhaven University, is now working as a tax accountant in Metairie, Louisiana. She started her position immediately after earning her degree and completed Belhaven’s online master’s program in one year. Shaw is currently studying to pass all four parts of the CPA exam, according to her account.

Shaw credits her education at Belhaven for providing a strong foundation in accounting and developing skills essential for success in a professional environment. She said the supportive environment of the university helped her balance her academic pursuits with her athletic interests.

She chose Belhaven because of its welcoming atmosphere and the encouragement from coaches and players. Shaw appreciated the school’s challenging academic programs and the opportunities to continue her passion for soccer while pursuing her education. Her time on the field included memorable moments, such as scoring a hat trick in the quarterfinals in front of her family, an experience she describes as unforgettable.

Reflecting on her time at Belhaven, Shaw values the relationships she built through soccer and the camaraderie with teammates. She remains involved with the sport by participating in alumni games and tournaments, and she hopes to join a women’s or co-ed league once her CPA studies are complete.

She highlights Emma Antonoplos as the best player she played with, noting her growth and confidence over the years. Shaw watched Antonoplos shine during Belhaven’s championship game this year, describing her as an integral part of the team’s success.
