Barons defeat Toppers in SSAC basketball game
Mount Vernon, Georgia — The Blue Mountain Christian University Toppers fell to Brewton-Parker Christian in an SSAC matchup Tuesday night, losing 77-62 on the road.
The Toppers showed energy early, trading baskets and holding a brief lead in the first half. Junior forward Gavin Shannon led the team with 25 points, demonstrating scoring ability and leadership. Jonathan Baker contributed 16 points and nine assists, helping to run BMCU’s offense.
Michael Hill added seven points off the bench, while Esrael Yant scored six points and grabbed seven rebounds. Other contributors included Chris Carter with three points and RJ Robinson with two. Despite struggling to contain Brewton-Parker’s attack, the Toppers flashed potential. A late second-half run fueled by Shannon’s three-pointer briefly energized the crowd and bench.
Turnovers down the stretch allowed Brewton-Parker to extend its lead. The Toppers will return home Thursday to face the Life Running Eagles, aiming to bounce back in their next game.
