Austin Peay edges Jackson State women’s tennis at home
Jackson State’s women’s tennis team fell to Austin Peay at home Thursday afternoon. The Lady Tigers struggled to secure the doubles point, losing a close match 7-5 to the Lady Governors.
In singles play, three Lady Tigers extended their matches to three sets but could not secure the overall win. Isabella Benavides, a freshman, overcame a 6-3 first-set loss to win the second set 6-1. Paula Corbalan and Polina Georgieva also pushed their matches to three sets before Austin Peay clinched the fourth point needed for victory.
Jackson State will look to rebound when they host Mississippi Valley State on Wednesday, March 18, at 2 p.m. The team continues to compete in the season as they aim to improve their record.
