Asbury Tops Belhaven Tennis Teams in Shortened Matches

The Belhaven men’s and women’s tennis teams lost to Asbury on the road, with both matches ending prematurely after the team results were secured. Asbury swept all three doubles courts in the men’s match to earn the opening point.

In doubles play, Jesus Diaz and Josiah Leggett lost 6-1 at No. 1, while Harshith Anugonda and Briley Oakes fell 6-0 at No. 2. Stephen Spencer and Jack Madden completed the doubles sweep with a 6-0 loss at No. 3. The women’s doubles teams also struggled, with Millie Gallarno and Evey Moore losing 6-0 at No. 1, and Rebekah Nichols and Arica Eason falling 6-2 at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles match was decided by default.

Belhaven’s players showed some competitiveness in singles. Anugonda pushed his opponent at No. 1, losing 7-5, 6-3. Diaz also competed at No. 2 but was unable to take a set. Leggett lost at No. 3, and the remaining singles matches at Nos. 4 through 6 were halted after Asbury clinched the team victory. For the women, Gallarno and Nichols competed at the top two singles positions but were defeated in straight sets. The other matches were halted once Asbury secured the team win.
