Alma Scores Six-Run Fifth Inning to Beat Millsaps 7-3

Jackson, Miss. — Alma College scored six runs in the fifth inning to rally past Millsaps College, 7-3, Thursday at Twenty Field. The Scots improved to 6-2-1, while Millsaps fell to 6-6.

Alma took an early lead after the first batter was hit by a pitch and stole second. A single through the left side gave the Scots a 1-0 advantage in the second inning. Millsaps tied the game in the third when senior EJ Ousley singled up the middle, and teammate Temple scored on a double steal play.

The Scots responded with six unearned runs in the fifth inning, pulling ahead 7-1. Millsaps scored twice in the ninth, with senior Mason Morgan and senior Layne Cross driving in runs, but Alma held on for the win. Morgan doubled and drove in a run, while Cross’s double in the ninth set up the final scoring.

Pitchers Dylon Lozano, Andrew Bradley, Kyler Roberts, Weston Myers, and Christos Panagopoulos combined for solid work on the mound for Millsaps. Morgan and sophomore Carston Williams led the offense with two hits each. Williams hit two doubles, and Morgan added an RBI, a double, and a run scored.

The Majors will travel to Montgomery, Alabama, for the Huntingdon Firehouse Classic on Saturday. They face Edgewood University at 11 a.m. and Huntingdon College at 6 p.m. Live video and stats will be available at gomajors.com.
