Alcorn State Signs 28 Players on National Signing Day

Alcorn State University’s football program announced the signing of 28 players as part of its 2026 recruiting class, according to head coach Cedric Thomas. The announcement was made Wednesday evening at the Davey L. Whitney Complex in Lorman, Mississippi.

Thomas, now in his second year leading the Braves, described the class as one of his best to date. The group includes 19 transfers — eight from junior colleges — and nine high school athletes who will join the team in the summer. Several of the signees are early enrollees, allowing them to participate in spring practices.

“I am extremely excited about this year’s signing class,” Thomas said. “The staff did a good job mixing junior college players, FCS and FBS recruits, and talented high school students who should get into the mix early on.”

The players hail from across the country, including six from Mississippi, six from Texas, six from Alabama, and others from Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, California, Virginia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

Among the transfers are Kareem Burke, a wide receiver from Arkansas-Pine Bluff who previously played at Florida A&M, and Ethan Terrell, a quarterback from Jackson State. Local standout Shaun Archer, an offensive lineman from Vicksburg High School, is among the high school signees expected to join the team in summer conditioning.

“Looking ahead to 2026, we believe this team could have a special season if everything comes together,” Thomas said. “We thank our staff for their hard work during the off-season. Now, it’s on us to get these players to perform.”

The 2026 schedule was released Tuesday, Feb. 3, and is available online. Fans can follow Alcorn State Sports on Twitter (@BravesSports), Instagram (@AlcornSports), and YouTube (Braves Sports Network) for updates and behind-the-scenes content.
