Alcorn State University’s softball team split a doubleheader against Dillard University on Tuesday at the Alcorn Softball Complex in Lorman, Mississippi. The Braves won the first game 5-3 but fell in the nightcap 12-8, according to the schools.

In the opening game, Yahnya Acevedo and Ka’Miya Dillon each had multi-hit, multi-RBI performances for Alcorn (7-7). The Braves took an early lead and extended it with a three-run third inning. Acevedo tripled and drove in two runs, while Dillon added two RBIs with a double. Dillard scored three runs in the sixth but could not catch up.

Olison earned the victory for Alcorn, pitching five innings in relief. Landry was the losing pitcher for Dillard (4-6), allowing five runs over six hits in a complete game effort. Acevedo finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, while Dillon also went 2-for-3. Acevedo stole her team-leading eighth base of the season.

The second game saw Dillard rally from an early deficit with a five-run second inning. The Bleu Devils scored four more in the fourth to pull ahead and sealed the win with two runs in the seventh. Kylie Price started and pitched five innings for Dillard, earning the win. Landry threw a no-hit inning in relief for the visitors.

Alcorn responded with five runs in the third inning, highlighted by doubles from Paris Thompson and Mackenzie Ward. However, Dillard’s offense proved too much, and the Bleu Devils pulled away in the later innings. Olison took the loss for the Braves, pitching 1.2 innings after starting pitcher Felton.

Alcorn is scheduled to host Xavier University on Friday for a non-conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. The team’s latest updates can be followed on social media channels.
