Alcorn Men’s Basketball Set for Final Two SWAC Games of Regular Season

– Alcorn State will conclude its 2025-26 regular season with two home games this week at the Davey L. Whitney Complex in Lorman, Mississippi. Under first-year head coach Jake Morton, the Braves face Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday and Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday in Southwestern Athletic Conference contests.

The team will also hold Senior Night to recognize departing players making their final home appearances. The game against Mississippi Valley State begins at 8 p.m. CT Tuesday, and the matchup with Arkansas-Pine Bluff is scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday. Both games will be streamed on SWAC TV, with live stats available online and radio broadcasts on WPRL-FM 91.7.

Alcorn enters the games with a 7-21 overall record and a 6-10 mark in the SWAC. The team has struggled offensively, averaging 67.6 points per game, one of the lowest in the league, while opponents score an average of 81.8 points. The Braves are shooting 30.9 percent from the field, led by Shane Lancaster with 321 points (11.5 ppg).

Recent performances include a loss to Prairie View A&M, where Joey Madimba scored 28 points for the Panthers. Alcorn also faces long-standing rivals in the series with Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff, holding a commanding advantage in both matchups historically.

Mississippi Valley State enters with a 3-27 record and is averaging 64.3 points per game, the lowest in the SWAC. Michael James leads the team with 626 points this season. Arkansas-Pine Bluff holds a 20-10 series lead over Alcorn and has won the last 10 meetings at home. The Golden Lions are led by Quion Williams, averaging 17.4 points per game, and Trevon Payton, who boasts a 45.7 percent three-point shooting percentage.
