Alabama Tops Alcorn State 7-0 in Men’s Tennis

Tuscaloosa, Ala. — Alabama’s men’s tennis team extended its winning streak with a 7-0 victory over Alcorn State on Sunday at Alabama Tennis Stadium. The Crimson Tide, now 7-7, dominated from the start, claiming the doubles point early in the match.

Alabama secured the doubles point by winning two of three matches before the third was completed. Matic Kriznik and Jacob Olar defeated Alcorn’s Matthew Holl and Vicent Llobell Buigues 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. On court two, Rohan Hazratwala and Brendan Loh defeated Sebastian Griffiths and Fabian Juarez 6-2.

Alcorn State, now 3-11, fought hard in doubles, winning a total of seven games across the three matches. However, Alabama carried that momentum into singles play, where it quickly pulled away. Brendan Loh delivered the most dominant performance of the day, defeating Jeremiah Jones 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 position.

Yoshka Sborowsky also secured a straight-set victory, beating Tomas Grime 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. Alabama’s Andrii Zimnokh sealed the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Sebastian Griffiths at No. 1 singles. Three other singles matches—Nos. 2, 3, and 5—were unfinished, with Alabama players holding commanding leads when play concluded.

The Crimson Tide will next compete in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the SWAC Pod event, facing Southern, Bethune-Cookman, and Florida A&M on March 6 and 7, respectively. Follow Alcorn State Sports on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for updates and behind-the-scenes content.
