Alabama A&M Scores 3 in Seventh to Beat Mississippi Valley State in Walk-Off

Alabama A&M scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure an 11-10 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday at Bulldog Softball Field in Huntsville, Alabama.

The game was close throughout, with Mississippi Valley State holding a 10-8 lead heading into the final inning. However, Alabama A&M’s late rally sealed their win, snapping a 12-game losing streak to the Diamond Devils.

Madison Bruce led Mississippi Valley State with two hits and two RBIs, while Jamiyah Gary also drove in two runs with a double and scored twice. Michelle Diaz contributed two singles and an RBI, and Taniya Partee and Sheridan Kynard each added a run and an RBI. Despite the loss, the Devils showed offensive firepower, recording 10 runs on 11 hits.

Alabama A&M’s Kali Austerman hit a four-run homer in the second inning, and Grace Cruthis scored twice. The Bulldogs staged their comeback with a three-run seventh, highlighted by a double from Jamiyah Gary that drove in the winning run. The teams will face off again Saturday with the first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. in Huntsville.

Mississippi Valley State, with a 1-30 overall record and 0-16 in SWAC play, continues to seek their first conference win this season. The Bulldogs improved to 17-24 overall and 4-11 in league play.
