SEC Expected to Announce Additional Conference Opponents Later Today
In an interview today, Mississippi State President Dr. Mark Keenum made the statement that he believes we will receive an official announcement from the Southeastern Conference on each team’s two additional conference opponents this afternoon.
Each member college will add two additional conference opponents from the opposite division due to the ten game conference-only schedule that stemmed from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some speculated that each team would add their rotational cross-division opponents from the next two years, but the SEC debunked this, citing it would interfere with schedules in the coming years.
Keenum also stated that he believed the full conference schedule would be released sometime next week.
Currently, the Mississippi state government has set a 25% capacity for all stadiums and athletic events. Keenum, however, stated he believes Davis Wade Stadium could efficiently social distance at 50% capacity.
