OXFORD, Miss. — The Ole Miss rifle team opened its season Saturday with a pair of victories at the Ole Miss Rifle Center. The fifth-ranked Rebels scored a 4,711 aggregate to defeat No. 14 Ohio State and No. 18 UT Martin, according to school officials.
Ole Miss secured the top three spots in aggregate scoring behind juniors Audrey Gogniat, Gracie Dinh, and Jordan de Jesus. Gogniat led all shooters with an 1,186 total and claimed individual honors in both smallbore and air rifle. Dinh scored 1,180, and de Jesus shot 1,178 to complete the Rebels’ sweep.
Senior Regan Diamond placed fifth overall with a 1,166. In smallbore, Ole Miss scored 2,337, outpacing Ohio State and UT Martin. The Rebels also outscored opponents in air rifle with a 2,374 team score. The team dominated in individual placements, holding the top four spots in smallbore and the top six in air rifle.
The match began with smallbore, where Gogniat posted a 591, including a 197 kneeling, 198 prone, and 196 standing series. Freshman Kamdyn McFarland debuted with a 589, finishing second in the discipline. Dinh and de Jesus scored 585 and 585, respectively, with de Jesus shooting a perfect 200 in prone.
In air rifle, Gogniat and Dinh each fired a 595, with Gogniat earning the top spot on center shots, 45-44. Both recorded two perfect 100 series, and Gogniat finished her final series perfectly, securing the overall victory. Diamond contributed a 591, and sophomore Kayla Riewe had a 589 to round out Ole Miss’s scoring.
