Northeast Mississippi Falls to East Central in Women’s Basketball Battle

Northeast Mississippi, also known as the Tigers, lost to East Central Community College with a final score of 54-62 on February 23, 2026. The game saw East Central take an early lead, outscoring the Tigers 15-4 in the first quarter, and maintaining a steady advantage throughout the contest.

Northeast Mississippi’s standout performer was Nakyiah Walker, who scored 24 points on an efficient 8-of-16 shooting, including 4-of-8 from three-point range. She also contributed seven assists, two steals, and two blocks, playing all 40 minutes. Christina Fulton added 14 points, shooting 6-of-18 from the field and 2-of-3 from the free-throw line, while also grabbing three rebounds and dishing out five assists. Alaysha Williams scored nine points, pulled down nine rebounds, and recorded five steals, making a significant defensive impact.

East Central’s defense limited the Tigers’ scoring opportunities after the first quarter, with Raiyleigh Perry leading her team with 4 points, including a 3-pointer, and adding three rebounds and three steals. A’Kiya Ratcliff contributed 2 points but was active on the boards with one offensive and one defensive rebound, and she scored two layups during her limited minutes. The Tigers fought hard in the second half, outscoring East Central 19-10 in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early deficit.
