Northeast Mississippi and Motlow State Play to 1-1 Tie in Softball Action

Northeast Mississippi and Motlow State Community College finished in a 1-1 tie in their softball game on February 24, 2026. The Tigers scored their lone run in the first inning, while Motlow State responded with a run in the third inning, resulting in a deadlock at the end of regulation.

Emma Abrams pitched a strong game for Northeast Mississippi, allowing only two hits and one run over seven innings. She struck out eight batters and issued four walks, earning the tie decision. For Motlow State, Hayley Cartwright also pitched a complete game, surrendering six hits and two runs with two strikeouts and one walk.

Offensively, Leah Walkerss led the Tigers with two hits in four at-bats and scored a run. Kendall Bragg contributed two hits and drove in the team’s only RBI, while Sophie Gant added a walk and a run scored. Motlow State’s offense was highlighted by a single hit from A. Brown, who also stole a base, and K. O’Neal, who drew a walk and stole second base. Despite multiple opportunities, both teams left several runners on base, with Northeast Mississippi leaving three and Motlow State leaving one.

The game showcased solid pitching and timely hitting from both sides, but neither team could break the deadlock, resulting in a 1-1 tie. The Tigers will look to build on this performance in their upcoming games as they continue their season.
