The Mississippi State men’s golf team will begin its final tournament of the fall portion of the 2022-23 season at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate on Sunday.
The three-day event will be played at the Ralston Creek Course in Charleston, S.C. The field features 16 other teams, including one from the SEC. The Bulldogs will be competing against host-Charleston Southern, Campbell, Florida-Gulf Coast, Francis Marion, Houston Baptist, Jacksonville, Louisiana Tech, Loyola-Maryland, Middle Tennessee State, Memphis, Mercer, Seton Hall, South Carolina, USC-Upstate and Wofford.
“This is going to be a great test of golf this week,” said head coach Dusty Smith. “The golf course is very challenging, and the greens will be firm this week. Our guys have prepared well this week.”
The Bulldog lineup features Ford Clegg, Garrett Endicott, Hunter Logan and Austin Vukovits. Pedro Cruz Silva will be playing as an individual.
Cruz Silva will be the first player from MSU to tee off for Round 1 from the No. 1 pin at 7:06 a.m. CT. The rest of the team will start at the same pin in nine-minute increments.
“It comes down to us playing with grit, discipline and toughness,” Smith added. “We can only control what we can do. Our goal is to compete at an elite level and to focus on playing Mississippi State golf.”
