The 2026 Mississippi high school girls basketball season wrapped up with several dominant teams across multiple classifications, and the final SportsMississippi.com MHSAA Girls Basketball Rankings reflect a year highlighted by championship runs and head-to-head battles among the state’s best programs.

A loaded Starkville Yellowjackets squad finished the season as the unanimous No. 1 team after controlling the top spot from start to finish and capturing the MHSAA Class 7A state championship. Starkville’s depth, athleticism, and consistency throughout the season set the standard for the rest of the state.

At No. 2, the Tishomingo County Braves capped off a remarkable season with the Class 4A state championship. The Braves’ only loss to an in-state team came against top-ranked Starkville, falling by just five points. Tishomingo County also earned impressive victories during the season against strong opponents including Madison-Ridgeland Academy, Leake Academy, and Neshoba Central, further solidifying their place among Mississippi’s elite.

The Biloxi Indians finished No. 3 after an outstanding campaign that ended with a Class 7A runner-up finish. Biloxi’s only losses during the season came against Starkville, the team that ultimately claimed the state title.

Coming in at No. 4, the Laurel Golden Tornadoes captured the Class 5A state championship. Laurel’s only defeats came against Biloxi during the season, highlighting the close competitive gap among the state’s top programs.

Rounding out the rankings at No. 5 are the Olive Branch Conquistadors, who secured the Class 6A state championship and finished the year as one of Mississippi’s most consistent teams.
