Meg Moore named Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year for 2025-2026

IUKA, Miss. — Gatorade Mississippi Girls Basketball Player of the Year honors for the 2025-2026 season have been awarded to Meg Moore, a standout sophomore guard at Tishomingo County High School in Iuka.
The 6-foot-1 guard led the Braves to a 28-2 record and the Mississippi Class 4A Girls Basketball State Championship this past season. Moore averaged 23.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, while also recording 1.2 blocks and shooting 87.2 percent from the free-throw line.
Moore delivered some of her best performances in the postseason. She was named Most Valuable Player of the state championship game and averaged 25.5 points and 10 rebounds per game during the Final Four, shooting 60 percent from the field and going a perfect 12-for-12 from the free-throw line.
“Meg Moore has a motor and also a height advantage, but her skill set would still make her a hard player to contain if she were an average-size player,” said Jason Broom, head coach at Neshoba Central High School.
Off the court, Moore has maintained an A average in the classroom and will begin her junior year this fall. She has also been active in community service, participating in the Tishomingo County High basketball team’s Service to Others project, volunteering with local youth programs, and helping with a Trunk or Treat event where she provided candy and basketball instruction to younger children.
The Gatorade Player of the Year award recognizes the nation’s top high school athletes for excellence in athletics, academics, and character.
Moore becomes one of Mississippi’s most accomplished rising basketball stars and is expected to draw significant attention as she continues her high school career
