Delta State Women’s Swimming Finishes Day Two at NSISC Championships

PENSACOLA, Fla. — The Delta State University women’s swimming and diving team had a strong night at the New South Intercollegiate Swimming Conference Championships on Wednesday. The Lady Statesmen earned several podium and A-final appearances in the finals session.

Delta State opened the evening in the 1,000-yard freestyle, with Rhianna Foster finishing third in 10:19.82. Her time was eligible for NCAA B-cut consideration. Jessica Gannon finished ninth in the event. In the 200-yard individual medley, Chloe Skelt placed fourth in 2:05.59, with Pia Delkeskamp close behind in fifth at 2:05.66. Janne Bodemer added an eighth-place finish, giving Delta State three swimmers in the A-final of that event.

The team also excelled in sprint events, particularly in the 50-yard freestyle. Zinna Nimander earned runner-up honors with a time of 22.93 seconds, earning an NCAA invite consideration. Olivia Murphy finished third in 23.00 seconds, while Ave Owens placed fifth. Kennedy Cleasant and Mikayla Kloth also scored points in the A-final, contributing to the team’s overall scoring effort.

Delta State will continue competition Thursday morning at 10 a.m. Central time, aiming to build on their momentum as the championship progresses.
