Northeast Tigers 24-25 season by the numbers

Aug. 1, 2025 – The Northeast Mississippi Community College athletic department once again thrived against some of the toughest competition in the country during the 2024-25 school year.

Here are a dozen important figures showcasing the quality of work that Northeast student-athletes produced from the first serve of volleyball in the fall to the final golf putt in the spring.

.558 – Northeast’s overall winning percentage among its head-to-head sports (baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, football, softball, men’s tennis, women’s tennis and volleyball).

79 – The number of wins by softball’s sophomores, which ties the program record originally set by last year’s graduating class. The Tigers’ 41 victories this spring matched their most in a single season ever.

41 – Northeast is sending more than 40 student-athletes to four-year universities across the nation. Football had the most players moving on as usual with 12, including eight to NCAA Division I institutions.

19 – Northeast was rewarded with 19 total all-conference selections this athletic season. The football and volleyball programs tied for the most with six recipients apiece.

18 – The longest winning streak by any Northeast sport this year. Men’s basketball became the last unbeaten team at the NJCAA Division I level by capturing its first 18 games, including an unblemished 16-0 mark in non-conference matchups.

12 – The number of different varsity sports sponsored by Northeast with the addition of men’s and women’s cross country. It is the most offerings in the college’s 76-year history.

10 – The baseball program racked up double-digit wins over nationally ranked opponents. Five of those victories were against top five teams from East Central Community College, Heartland (Ill.) Community College and Pearl River Community College.

9 – Amount of teams competing at a postseason event (baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, golf, softball, men’s tennis and volleyball).

3.31 – The cumulative grade point average (GPA) for the entire athletic department. The women’s tennis (3.88) and women’s cross country (3.81) programs were crowned as academic national champions.

3 – Athletes that obtained All-American awards from various outlets. Offensive lineman Neil Sledge was recognized by JCGridiron while the softball battery of Hailey Minchew and Ramsey Montgomery were honored by the NJCAA.

2 – A pair of Northeast baseball players appeared on SportsCenter’s top 10 plays on ESPN. Freshman second baseman Kody Gilmore made an acrobatic diving catch in a dub over rival Northwest Mississippi Community College in late February while alumnus Khi Holiday robbed a home run one month later for the University of Southern Indiana.

0 – The men’s basketball team did not lose a game at home for the second time in the last five campaigns. The Tigers have won 94-percent of their contests inside legendary Bonner Arnold Coliseum in that span.
