The Southern States Athletic Conference announced today that Blue Mountain College’s Catherine Truemper (FR/New Albany, Miss.) has been named the Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Truemper blew away the competition Saturday on her home course at the 2022 Topper Trails 5K Classic with a time of 20:04, good enough for an average mile pace of 6:27 and leading the team to a title. It was the freshman’s first collegiate individual title.
“I am so proud of Catherine,” Topper head coach Phillip Laney said. “She is such a hard worker and is continually improving with every race. I’m excited to see her hard work paying off and how she finishes the rest of the season. She is very deserving.”
Truemper and her comrades race in St. Louis Oct. 22 and later compete in the SSAC Championship Nov. 4 in Danville, Ala.
