Southern Miss is scheduled to visit Auburn on Thursday for a women’s basketball game at Neville Arena. The game is listed for 6 p.m. in Auburn, Alabama.

The Lady Eagles opened their season Monday with an 85-59 win over Mississippi Christian at Reed Green Coliseum. The victory extended Southern Miss’ streak of home-opening wins to 13 and improved its record in home openers to 42-10, according to the school.

Hayleigh Breland led all scorers with 14 points, shooting 6-for-12 from the field and 2-for-3 from 3-point range. Whitney Hart, one of two returning starters, grabbed 10 rebounds. Chrysta Narcisse recorded a double-double in her first career performance, with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Jada Gay added seven points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in her collegiate debut.

Auburn also began the season with a win, defeating Alabama State 84-35 at home. The Tigers are coached by Larry Vickers, who is entering his second season after leading the team to a 15-17 overall record and a 3-13 mark in the Southeastern Conference last season. Auburn was picked 15th in the SEC preseason poll.

Auburn leads the series 4-2 and is 3-0 against Southern Miss in games played in Auburn. Thursday’s game will be the teams’ first meeting at Neville Arena; their previous three matchups in Auburn were held at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum. Southern Miss is seeking its first win against an SEC opponent since beating a ranked Ole Miss team 61-59 in 2023-24.

Southern Miss is scheduled to return home Monday, Nov. 9, to face Mississippi Valley State at 6 p.m. The game begins a five-game home stand and is designated Community Night.
