Delta State details Walter Sillers Coliseum renovations
Delta State Athletics says renovations at Walter Sillers Coliseum will continue through the 2026-27 basketball season, bringing upgrades to the facility while games proceed. The work includes improvements to restrooms, concourses, locker rooms and coaches’ offices, as well as updates to ceilings, wall finishes, plumbing and the fire suppression system.
Fans will use the same ticket-entry arrangements as before: ticket holders will enter on the east side, while will-call and pass-list admissions will be handled on the west side. Concessions will remain in their usual location, served from temporary tables.
Temporary restrooms are planned outside the coliseum’s west side. A first-floor restroom will remain available for people with disabilities, while other fans will be directed to the temporary facilities. Delta State said it hopes to reopen the renovated indoor public restrooms before the basketball season ends. Floor-level accessible seating and existing parking arrangements will remain in place.
The main lobby is slated to receive glass-enclosed displays for Delta State basketball trophies. The court and stage will not change, and the university said fan areas will be cleaned and prepared before the season. Construction may remain visible around the building’s exterior.
After basketball season, crews are expected to resume interior work, including renovation and expansion of the Margaret Wade Room. The second-floor space will overlook the court and be accessible from the lower level. Plans for next summer also include an east-side entrance, an elevator to the second floor and an exterior staircase providing access to the coliseum’s upper level.
