William Carey Wins Ram Spring Invite by Eight Strokes
Mobile, Alabama — William Carey University’s men’s golf team won the Ram Spring Invitational by eight strokes, finishing with a three-round total of 875. The Crusaders posted scores of 294, 293, and 294 over the course of the tournament, according to team officials.
Ongsa Booncharn led William Carey in the opening round with a 1-under 71 and finished in a tie for third place. Lorenzo Ligabue shot an even-par 72 to end the tournament in fifth. Chance Elston shot a 75 in the first round but improved significantly in the second, firing a 4-under 68 to climb the leaderboard. He finished tied for second after closing with a 75 in the final round and earned all-tournament honors.
Ligabue also finished strong, matching Elston’s second-place finish with an even-par 72 in the final round. Aubrey Jones improved from his opening round, finishing with a 76 and tying for 17th. Ethan Holway shot an even-par 72 in the final round to place 26th, while Justin Hammett finished 27th after a 75 in the last round.
The Crusaders will next compete on March 9, when they host the Carey Collegiate at Canebrake Country Club.
