William Carey Sweeps Point in Doubleheader on the Road
WEST POINT, Ga. — William Carey started its three-game road series at Point University with a doubleheader sweep Friday, winning 12-3 and 14-10. The Crusaders’ offense came alive early in both games, helping secure the victories.

Taylor Walters and Cam Senior reached on back-to-back singles, setting up Franklin Hernandez, who hit a three-run homer to center. Alan McClean added a solo shot later in the inning, pushing the lead to 4-0. The Crusaders continued to add to their lead with Gage Hinnant singles, DeeJay Booth doubles, and a passed ball that allowed another run to score. They extended their advantage to 8-0 after an unearned run following a Point error.

The second game was closer until the top of the seventh, when Carey scored 10 runs to turn a 5-5 tie into a commanding lead. William Carey struck first on an RBI single from Carley, but Point responded immediately. Hernandez’s solo homer in the fourth put Carey ahead 3-1. Point tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, then took its first lead in the sixth on a two-run double by Arwin Burgos.
The Crusaders’ big inning in the seventh featured a bases-clearing double from Hernandez, a wild pitch that brought home another run, and multiple RBI hits from Booth and Mark. The final run of the inning was scored after an error, putting Carey ahead 13-5. Point mounted a four-run rally in the eighth, aided by two Crusader errors and a two-run double from Brady Bye, but it fell short. Carey held on in the ninth to complete the sweep.
