William Carey Men’s Golf Finishes Sixth at Carey Collegiate Tournament

The William Carey University men’s golf team finished sixth overall at the Carey Collegiate in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The tournament featured multiple NAIA Top 25 programs, with WCU posting rounds of 295, 290, and 282.

Ongsa Booncharn led the Crusaders in the first round, shooting an even-par 69 to tie for 11th. Ethan Holway shot a 73, and Lorenzo Ligabue added a 75. In the second round, Chance Elston improved his score by five strokes with a 71, while Ligabue lowered his score by three strokes. Booncharn recorded a 72, and Holway posted a 74.

The Crusaders carried momentum into the final round, climbing three spots on the leaderboard. Booncharn posted his best round of the tournament with a 70, finishing 19th overall. Holway made a significant jump, shooting a 69 to move up 11 spots. Ligabue also finished strong with a 70. William Carey’s next event is scheduled for March 16 at the FireHawk Invitational in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, hosted by UT Southern.

Individual scores included Booncharn with rounds of 71, 73, and 70; Holway with 73, 74, and 69; Ligabue with 75, 72, and 70; and Chance Elston with 76, 71, and 73.
