Valdosta, Ga. — Ty Werynski of Delta State University shot a 68 in the opening round and a 72 in the second to finish the first day of the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate tied for 13th place overall.
The tournament, hosted by Valdosta State at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club, features 12 NCAA Division II programs competing on a par-72, 7,257-yard course. The Delta State men’s golf team finished the day with a team score of 584, or 8 over par, placing 15th after two rounds.
Werynski’s performance helped the team post rounds of 291 and 293, respectively. Fellow player Payne Bius shot rounds of 79 and 74 for a total of 153, or 9 over par.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with the final round. Delta State will aim to improve its standing in the team competition as play resumes.
